• Step 1: Prepare ingredients including bagasse, sludge, NPK fertilizer (5 – 10 – 3), superphosphate fertilizer, EM 1 molasses, lime powder and necessary tools such as tarpaulin, scale, hoe, shovel, and reaming bucket)
• Step 2: Grind the bagasse very finely, then mix the chopped bagasse, sludge with NPK fertilizer, superphosphate fertilizer, and lime powder. Next, use a tool to spread the mixed mixture into a layer of 20 – 30 cm thick.
• Step 3: Dilute EM 1 according to the ratio instructed on the packaging.
• Step 4: Water the mixed EM 1 evenly on the thin layer of raw materials. Then cover the compost pile with a tarp, which is spread out from 1.5 to 2m high.
• Step 5: After 3-4 days of composting, check the temperature of the compost pile. At the same time, check the humidity, stir and keep the temperature at about 50-60 degrees Celsius. After 10-15 days, the compost will decompose. At that time, you can mix the bagasse with soil to fertilize the plants.

With the above method, you can effectively utilize and recycle the bagasse into biological fertilizer to grow plants, and help the plants grow well.

2. Feed for livestock

Experience in fattening yellow cattle in China by Xiaqing Zou and collaborators shows that it is possible to fatten yellow cattle with a diet containing: Sugarcane bagasse (35-41%), molasses (5%) and concentrates (bran, corn). After 100 days of fattening, the average weight gain is: 866-921 grams/day

When fermenting fibrous by-products with urea or adding urea, a cheap source of nitrogen to the diet, will ensure an increase in the digestibility and feed intake of cattle. Fiber digestion is also significantly improved when adding a small amount of easily fermentable carbohydrates such as molasses, cassava pulp, sweet potatoes, bran, etc.

When using non-protein nitrogen, sulfur is the main limiting factor for the activity of rumen microorganisms. A mixture of 90% urea and 10% sodium sulphate (Na2SO4) makes the N/S ratio balanced. Straw is usually low in calcium, phosphorus and salt. The addition of cobalt (Co), copper (Cu) will improve the straw-based diet. The digestibility of straw will be significantly improved if 1.5-2% urea, 10% molasses and 0.5% mineral mixture (salt, P, Ca, S) are added.
